Unlocking Lewisham Town Centre's Potential

Our plans for the shopping centre will unlock Lewisham Town Centre’s potential for economic growth and reinvigorate the area.

We are supporting a number of community, social and cultural organisations:

The Museum of Migration: explores how the movement of people to and from Britain across the ages has shaped our country and our communities.

The Toy Library: provides access to over 2,000 toys and learning resources for local children.

The Bank of Things: an initiative by the Young Mayor and supported by Landsec. The Bank of Things provides help for young people aged 11-25 who are struggling to access everyday essentials to enable them to take a full, active role in their education or society.

The Circle Collective: one of our long-term charity partners that provides young people with employment opportunities. We will be supporting its Borough of Culture projects.

Lewisham Youth Theatre: founded in 1987, LYT uses theatre and drama to help positively change young people’s lives. We are providing LYT with a temporary home, based on High Street, while their new permanent base is completed.

We Are Lewisham: as part of the Borough of Culture, We Are Lewisham (located in the shopping centre) will be hosting a programme of community events throughout the year.

Major redevelopment of the shopping centre will:

■ Provide new town centre uses such as restaurants and cafes that help grow a new night-time economy for Lewisham Town Centre.

■ Create a more robust town centre offer by providing greater diversity in the retail and other activities.

■ Provide a mix of new homes for a diverse community including affordable homes and family housing.

■ Create around 2,300 jobs, strengthening Lewisham’s economy.

■ Promote health and wellbeing by providing new public spaces, extensive greening.
