A Sustainable Place

We are proposing to significantly increase green public spaces for the local community in the town centre.

These spaces can be used by families and children for relaxing and playing, and for community events located away from the noise and pollution of surrounding busy roads.

We are also proposing a new concept called the Lewisham Loop. The Loop will be a new garden walkway in the north of the site that connects the ground floor with the first floor, re-purposing the existing car park ramp.

The Lewisham Loop will provide space for people to eat, relax, meet friends, and enjoy the green landscaping. It will turn Lewisham Shopping Centre into a destination where people can shop, eat, drink, and relax.

■ Create two new major public open spaces in north and south of the site and the Lewisham Loop.

■ The spaces will provide new green areas for the town centre.

■ There will be spaces for recreation and community events.

■ The green spaces will provide habitats and improve biodiversity on the site.

■ We will incorporate solar panels where possible in order to generate green electricity on-site.

■ Our design will be based on a fabric-first approach - homes that are designed to minimise heating demands through materials and efficient design.

■ The site currently provides little to no biodiversity value - our green-led design will provide a significant net gain in biodiversity.

■ The project will encourage healthy lifestyles through active travel by making the area more accessible and attractive for pedestrians and cyclists, and providing significant cycle parking.
