Join us for a series of 3 community workshops exploring various aspects of the Lewisham shopping centre masterplan. Following our public exhibition, we are now ready to get your ideas and input on aspects you told us are important to you. This includes the use of the green and public spaces, what facilities and amenities you need in a shopping centre, and how the masterplan can reflect the diversity of Lewisham. We want to make sure the Lewisham masterplan is inclusive and reflective of what Lewisham communities want and need. You can sign up for all three workshops or just the ones you can attend. Workshops are open to all Lewisham residents and town centre users. We will be serving some delicious food from local vendors at each workshop.
Each workshop will be at No.25, our unit in the Lewisham shopping centre (opposite XO bikes).

We want to make sure the new masterplan is reflective of the diverse communities and vibrant heritage of Lewisham. This workshop will focus on ways we can reflect diversity in the town centre, through food and retail offer, public spaces and community facilities. This session will centre the voices of those from diverse communities. We will be looking at the current food offer, histories, and cultures of Lewisham and how this can be reflected in the public realm. We will soon be releasing a line-up of exciting local speakers for this event, who will be reflecting on their experiences and practices of heritage and identity in Lewisham.

What is the Design Champion group?
The Design Champion group is a unique opportunity for residents to work with architects, planners and urban designers, as well as Landsec, to help shape the look and feel of this major town centre site in heart of Lewisham.
How will they do it?
Through a series of workshops, walkabouts, design sessions and group discussions, the Design Champions will work with architects, planners and the Landsec team, bringing together their thoughts and ideas to influence the future designs of the Shopping Centre site.
Who can join the group?
The group is open to all Lewisham residents. We want to hear from different communities with different interests, to ensure that the final design benchmarks reflect the Borough’s diversity.
You don’t need to have any prior knowledge of architecture or planning. Instead, we’re looking for people that understand their community and the area.
When and where will they meet?
The sessions will run over September and October during the evenings, with some weekend sessions. The first sessions will be ‘Skill Up’ sessions, where the group will receive training from architects, planners and urban designers.
Following this, the group will take part in workshops.
The sessions will be held locally.
How will we recruit the Design Champions?
You can apply by filling a form on our website (below), or getting in touch to request a hard copy.
We want to hear why you would like to be a member of the group. We’ll also ask for some personal details, which will help us a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and interests are reflected in the group.
Once we have received submissions, we will be in touch with successful candidates to explain what happens next.
Why should you join?
This will be your chance to directly input into the design process of the redevelopment of Lewisham Shopping Centre site.
This will be one of the first times where residents have been asked to get involved in this type of work in Lewisham.
As a Design Champion, you will:
